Fashion Label/blog Collaboration: Kimberly Taylor X Man Repeller

As another example of fashion bloggers collaborating on fashion collections, New York designer Kimberly Taylor collaborates with Leandra Medine of the Man Repeller blog for her fall 2011-12 collection. The fashion blogger will help style and star in the two-part ‘Man-Repelling’ and ‘Man-Getting’ Kimberly Taylor Fall 2011 look book. A keen blogger herself, Taylor highlights the importance of bloggers in the fashion industry today, “I think they are tremendously influential tastemakers at this moment and are a great way for designers to reach the exact audiences they want to expose their designs to.” Kimberly Taylor launched her contemporary collection in spring 2009, citing New York, where she was born and raised, as the continuous inspiration behind her ‘minimalist-chic aesthetic, always designing with the modern girl in mind’. Expanding on why she chose to work with Medine in particular, Taylor goes onto add, “I think Leandra has the most unique personal style, I love her sense of fashion humor and her unique way of styling classic pieces. She helps show the versatility of the clothes as well. She’s able to layer and layer in ways no one else would be clever enough to think of.” The leopard print and leather accents that run throughout the collection are in direct homage to Medine’s personal style, pared down with sharp tailoring that takes its inspiration from Taylor’s recent trip to London, in particular Savile Row. The Kimberley Taylor presentation is tonight, 8pm-10pm at Dop Dop Salon, NYC. www.manrepeller.com
